This lookbook begins with a question that EMIN + PAUL has continually explored
: the essence of life.
The collection portrays a woman who continuously reflects on this essence, drawing a parallel between her and the sea as the narrative unfolds.
“We are shaken like waves, and at times, we break.
Yet as we catch the light, we become more beautiful than anything else.”
Following the emotional current that began with this line, the collection gradually took shape through EMIN + PAUL’s signature sense of restraint.
The sea can remain still and quiet, yet in an instant, it can rise as if to swallow everything in its path.
When light seeps into those very moments, it scatters across the surface, creating a scene that feels beyond words.
In that shimmering scene lies a reflection of an existence that is endlessly shaken, yet ultimately creates a radiance of its own.
This story marks the first chapter of that journey.
It focuses on the inner moments of uncertainty, before one fully comes to realise their own worth, when questions are still being asked and the self is still in motion.
The shoot took place in Kingsgate, on the southern coast of England.
The fluid movement of the sea, set against the sharply carved chalk cliffs, created a striking contrast that brought the emotions of this collection into clearer focus.
Within this landscape, where softness and strength, flow and structure coexist, we were able to naturally express the balance that EMIN + PAUL seeks in design.
Silhouettes that move gently with the wind echo the rhythm of the waves, while restrained lines and structural details reflect the solid reality we encounter.
In the moment when these contrasting sensibilities collide and blend, the image of the woman EMIN + PAUL envisions begins to emerge.
In our incompleteness, we are more easily shaken—and for that very reason, we shine all the more.
